In 2011, I took up bicycling as my primary method of exercising for the first time. I purchased a Raleigh Revenio 1.0 in March, and it served me well with the exception of a broken spoke that was replaced quickly with 2 new wheels. I bike a total of 604 miles on the Raleigh with a maximum ride of 49.88 miles. I learned to dodge pedestrians on Chicago's Lakefront Path and to be comfortable while riding in traffic. Overall it was a nice start to a new endeavor.
As 2012 begins I am looking past the next 2-3 months of harsh winter and setting goals for the new year.
* Ride at least once a week once spring arrives.
* Ride home from work at least once a week
* Ride home from work twice a week whenever possible
* Do a 64 mile bike ride
* Do an 86 mile bike ride
* Ride 1000 miles in 2012
